Valentine's Day - What a Waste
Who: Jacob, Corvus, and others, open
Where: Lower commons
When: Thursday, after dinner
Status: Completed
Summary: A group of boys alone in the lower commons decide to try to play some games. Autumn makes a brief appearance, but decides to leave when they break out the exploding snap cards. Kaden inadvertently comes out to Corvus while they're walking to go get the aforementioned snap cards. Logan walks Autumn to the library, and Autumn decides she likes the Beauxbatons champion better than the Durmstrang one. When Alex and Kaden engage in a game of chess with the stipulation that the loser has to preform a dare, Alex has to run to the library in his boxers. Upon their return, Kaden offers to complete Alex's proposed dare for him, and he kisses Corvus before the party breaks up and the boys retreat to their given rooms.
Jake kind of wondered how much of a refuge the lower commons would actually be. How many of the couples, really, were going to actually pay attention to the signs on the door and in the common rooms?
He'd been pleased to see the sign - he was kind of getting really sick of that French couple that was always snogging in their common room. Didn't they have anything better to do?
Either way, he made his way in with a stack of books after dinner. He noticed a few other people there, and he announced: "you all damn well better be single," before he sat down on one of the couches.
"Why?" Corvus inquired from where he was sprawled across an armchair. "You looking for some lovin' Flint?" He grinned and waggled his brows at Jacob.
"Not from you, Corner," Jake shot back, but he grinned, too. He'd always thought that Corvus should've been a Slytherin, but ... well, he was a 'puff. Jake still thought he was an okay guy. "But speaking of lovin', you haven't noticed anyone snogging in here, have you?"
"I haven't been looking," Corvus quipped with a grin. "But so far, no."
"Good," Jake decided, settling in to do some homework. Or ... think about doing homework, anyway.

"Good," Jake decided, settling in to do some homework. Or ... think about doing homework, anyway.
"Toooooo much work," Jake decided, crossing to an armchair and flopping down into it. "Maybe I'll see if I can make a dash for my room without getting completely disgusted." Or see if there was a single snake who hadn't made it down here.
"Good luck with that," Corvus offered, moving to a couch.
"I'd offer to help, but it's comfortable here. Just watch, as soon as Jake leaves, all the girls will come flooding in." Alex grinned.
"Then I think Jake should leave," teased Kaden. As if he cared if there were girls there, or not.
Either way, he wasn't there at the moment, so she crossed to one of her tables and settled down into a seat.
"Ooooh, he told you, Flint," Alex teased, grinning over to Kaden.
"Yeah, all right," Jake said. "I know where I'm not wanted." Though he was kind of looking forward to just hanging out in his room. "See you guys then. Good luck finding someone to be your Valentine."
Kaden hadn't expected Jake to get offended and felt. "Wait...I was kidding. I'm sorry," he said hoping that Jake wasn't mad at him. He then bit his lower lip, seeing if the boy would stay.
Jake had to laugh a little. Did the 'claw really think he was upset? He waved a hand dismissively and shook his head. "I know you were kidding," he assured him before glancing over to Alex. His eyes swept back to Kaden before he grinned, shook his head, and slid out of his chair.
"See you, Flint," Corvus said, sprawling out on his couch and mentally trying to figure out who'd actually show up here. He was willing to bet most people were just hiding in their rooms.
"Indeed," Autumn agreed, a faint smile tugging her lips before she opened her own book. She was vaguely, peripherally aware of the other people in the library, but they were all being quiet ... so that was fine.
"I'll play," Alex offered, shrugging. It was something to do, anyway, and he didn't have anything else to do.
"Corvus no like that plan," he said, though his voice was muffled by his arm across his place. "If you're so keen to see me in my boxers, Thompson, you just have to ask."
"I think I heard him say he liked that idea," Alex said innocently before he shrugged to Kaden. "But sure, I'm game."
Corvus started to fake-snore, loudly and obnoxiously, until Alex laughed and he joined in.
((If you want to skip the actual game play...and skip to the end...I am fine with whatever you decide.))
Alex actually made something of an effort to play the game well, though he really wasn't good at strategizing for long-term, and he inadvertently sacrificed several pieces in his overeagerness to claim Kaden's pieces.
By the time they were done, Alex wondered if Corvus really was asleep, and he glanced over to the other boy curiously.
