Valentine's Day - What a Waste

Who: Jacob, Corvus, and others, open
Where: Lower commons
When: Thursday, after dinner

Status: Completed
Summary: A group of boys alone in the lower commons decide to try to play some games. Autumn makes a brief appearance, but decides to leave when they break out the exploding snap cards. Kaden inadvertently comes out to Corvus while they're walking to go get the aforementioned snap cards. Logan walks Autumn to the library, and Autumn decides she likes the Beauxbatons champion better than the Durmstrang one. When Alex and Kaden engage in a game of chess with the stipulation that the loser has to preform a dare, Alex has to run to the library in his boxers. Upon their return, Kaden offers to complete Alex's proposed dare for him, and he kisses Corvus before the party breaks up and the boys retreat to their given rooms.

Jake kind of wondered how much of a refuge the lower commons would actually be. How many of the couples, really, were going to actually pay attention to the signs on the door and in the common rooms?

He'd been pleased to see the sign - he was kind of getting really sick of that French couple that was always snogging in their common room. Didn't they have anything better to do?

Either way, he made his way in with a stack of books after dinner. He noticed a few other people there, and he announced: "you all damn well better be single," before he sat down on one of the couches.

"Why?" Corvus inquired from where he was sprawled across an armchair. "You looking for some lovin' Flint?" He grinned and waggled his brows at Jacob.

"Not from you, Corner," Jake shot back, but he grinned, too. He'd always thought that Corvus should've been a Slytherin, but ... well, he was a 'puff. Jake still thought he was an okay guy. "But speaking of lovin', you haven't noticed anyone snogging in here, have you?"

"I haven't been looking," Corvus quipped with a grin. "But so far, no."

"Good," Jake decided, settling in to do some homework. Or ... think about doing homework, anyway.

Alex grinned as he studied the board. He directed a pawn forward in a fairly common opening move.

Corvus started to fake-snore, loudly and obnoxiously, until Alex laughed and he joined in.
Kaden gave a chuckle, and studied the board before he, too, moved a pawn out.

((If you want to skip the actual game play...and skip to the end...I am fine with whatever you decide.))
(( Sure. We can skip to post game :) ))

Alex actually made something of an effort to play the game well, though he really wasn't good at strategizing for long-term, and he inadvertently sacrificed several pieces in his overeagerness to claim Kaden's pieces.

By the time they were done, Alex wondered if Corvus really was asleep, and he glanced over to the other boy curiously.
Kaden wasn't really expecting things to go so easy for him. Alex seemed to not pay attention to where any of the other pieces were. However, he played it out, and after a bit he claimed another of Alex's pieces. "Check mate," he said and pointed to where the "check mate" was. "Looks like you get to do something fun."
"Something fun, huh? I don't think running around outside mostly naked constitutes as fun." It was, after all, still pretty cold out there. He studied the board, but he wouldn't know if there were any other moves, anyway, so he grinned, and shrugged. "All right. What do I get to do for fun?"
Kaden thought but nothing was really coming to mind. "I've got it...you can run up to the library and back...in your underwear. At least, you won't have to be cold." He grinned wondering if Alex would really do it; also, wondering if Corvus was going to watch.
"You better go with him, if that's your condition," Corvus said, moving his arm off his face. "I mean, what's to keep him from just hiding in the bathroom for five minutes or something?"

"...you're so helpful, Corner. Remind me to hex you later," Alex said, but he grinned - that kind of had been his plan.
"Good point." He hadn't thought about that fact, and then said, "Looks like I'm joining you then...but with all my clothes on." He then glanced over to Corvus, "Thanks for the suggestion."
"Well, at least when we get caught running through the halls, they'll take away 'claw points too," Alex said as he stood up. He slipped his robes off, then pulled his shirt off. "Close your eyes everyone. No one wants to see this," he teased before he unfastened his pants.

"Think you've got everything backwards, Thompson." Corvus pointed out. "I think we both want to see that." He laughed, but he draped his arm back over his face. He really was kind of sleepy, and the couches were comfortable, and no way did he want to run anywhere.
Kaden turned away, but laughed at Corvus' comment. "It would only be fair for me to lose points for my house, if we get caught anyway. However, would I get in trouble...I mean, I won't be the one who is running around almost naked." He wasn't sure when to turn back around so he just decided to wait until Alex said he was ready to go. He also hoped that he would be able to keep up with Alex on the run.
"But you'd still be running," Alex said as he slipped his shoes and socks off before he pulled his pants off. While it wasn't cold indoors, it was a little chilly. Shaking his head, he grinned over to Kaden. "Your funeral," he said before he started toward the door.

He sincerely hoped they managed to dodge any prefects or professors.
Kaden followed after Alex, "Well, I guess we'll be back soon, Corvus...or so I hope." He couldn't help but glance at Alex. Kaden was impressed to say the least.
"All the way to the library, huh?" he glanced over to Kaden, crossing his arms over his chest to rub his upper arms. "Sure you don't want to change the destination or anything? To ... maybe somewhere closer?" He paused. "Do I actually have to go in, or is just going to the door fine?"
"Just to the door. Going inside may get us caught, and that is what we want to avoid. Hopefully, we can avoid any staff members, or prefects." He stretched his legs slightly. "Well...then...on the count of three, then?" He smirked and continued, "One...two...three!"
Alex laughed before he started running on the count of three. The stone floor felt weird under his bare feet, and his traction wasn't as good. "If I fall flat on my face, you're in so much trouble," he teasingly threatened as he ran easily alongside Kaden.
